AP Courses

An Advanced Placement (AP) course is a challenging learning experience that is recognized as highly effective preparation for success in college. A record of AP courses on a student’s transcript is an indication of the student’s commitment to rigorous academics. Course descriptions are carefully outlined on the AP Course Description links available online at www.apcentral.collegeboard.com.

Typically, successful AP students are task-oriented, proficient readers, able to prioritize their time, understand the need to complete homework and have parental/guardian support. The rigorous curriculum requires more effort and homework on the part of the students. The fast pace of the class allows students to cover more content in greater depth. Summer work will be required as a prerequisite to the class, and homework will be assigned weekly up to 5 hours per week per class.
